The Town of Barrie 1887 Series

Early newspapers provide the answers to some many questions about the past.  Where was the original village site of Barrie, who were the first settlers and where was the very first building erected? The answers  lie within the pages of the Toronto Daily Mail.  The author in 1887 begins a history lesson about Barrie, sharing the stories of 70 years previous and the founding of Barrie.  Newsprint was expensive and the use of paragraphs far and few between; but read slowly it is fascinating. Notes and Google maps have been added to allow for contemporizing the readers vision of historical locations.
